Munich Security Conference: Cyber Threats Lead G7 Risk Index, Disinformation Ranks Third

The Munich Security Index 2026 reports that G7 nations again rate cyber-attacks as their top national risk for 2025 (notably 75% in Germany, 74% in the UK, and 70% in Japan), while BICS countries have shifted focus to climate change and extreme weather, relegating cyber risks to eighth. Unlike most countries where perceived risks eased, concerns increased in the UK, US, and India, with the US seeing rising anxiety over economic and political instability. The findings are based on online surveys of ~1,000 adults per country (11,099 total) conducted Nov 5–25, 2025, with a 3.1% margin of error and caution advised for results from autocratic contexts.
