Chainguard, JPMorgan, BNY Team Up to Secure Open Source from AI Threats

Chainguard announced Athena, a coalition of industry partners (including major vendors and financial firms) that pools vulnerability findings, uses frontier AI to identify and prioritize issues, privately hardens and distributes patched builds to members, and coordinates mitigations and upstream disclosure to protect open-source software from AI-driven attacks. The initiative aims to act as an "AI cybersecurity clearinghouse," provide mitigations ahead of public disclosure, and collaborate with organizations like the Linux Foundation on coordinated response efforts.
