Hundreds of Arrests as Operation Sentinel Recovers $3m

Interpol's Operation Sentinel (Oct 27–Nov 27) targeted BEC, digital extortion and ransomware across Africa, resulting in 574 arrests, recovery of $3M, disruption of malicious infrastructure (6,000 links, 43 domains, thousands of social accounts), decryption of six ransomware variants, and investigations linking cases to over $21M in losses; notable successes included stopping a $7.9M fraudulent wire, recovering 30TB of encrypted data from a Ghanaian financial institution, and dismantling a cross-border fraud network.
