Twenty Million US IP Connections Used by Proxy Services

The Digital Citizens Alliance (with risk3sixty) reports that millions of U.S. residential IP connections are being aggregated into proxy services—frequently without homeowner consent—and used by cybercriminals and state-linked actors for fraud and other illicit purposes; the investigation found tens of millions of IPs, high fraud-flagging rates, reuse across providers, dark web listings, and distribution via fake VPNs and pre-infected devices, and recommends user hygiene and IP-security checks.
