Agentic AI Accelerates Software Builds and Mobile App Attacks

Digital.ai's 2026 Application Security Threat Report finds a rapid rise in attacks on customer-facing mobile apps—87% of monitored apps were attacked in 2026 (up from 55% in 2022)—with financial services, automotive, and medical-device apps among the most targeted. The firm attributes the surge to AI lowering skill, time and cost barriers for attackers (enabling AI-assisted reverse engineering, exploit generation and malware adaptation), notes Android and iOS attack rates have converged, and warns apps are often attacked within hours of appearing in app stores.
