World Economic Forum: Cyber-fraud overtakes ransomware as business leaders' top cyber-security concern

The World Economic Forum’s Global Cybersecurity Outlook 2026 reports that phishing and cyber-enabled fraud have overtaken ransomware as top concerns, with 77% of leaders noting increased fraud/phishing and 62% aware of phishing impacts across their networks; BEC/invoice fraud and identity fraud also feature prominently. The review warns that AI is accelerating risks, with 87% experiencing rising AI-related vulnerabilities and 94% expecting AI to be the dominant force shaping cybersecurity by 2026. The report urges coordinated action across governments, businesses, and technology providers to bolster resilience and protect trust in an increasingly AI-driven landscape.
