Grindr Settles UK Data Privacy Claims for £26m

Grindr agreed to a £26m settlement of a UK group action alleging unlawful processing and sharing of sensitive user data (HIV status, sexual orientation, etc.) by the app between 2016–2020; the claim—brought by law firm Austen Hays and representing roughly 12,000 people—follows prior regulatory actions in Norway and the UK, and Grindr says it has since restructured ownership and revamped its privacy program.
