Darktrace observed a 620% surge in Black Friday–themed phishing campaigns ahead of major sales days, warning of three dominant tactics: brand impersonation (notably Amazon and major US retailers), fake marketing domains that redirect users to counterfeit sites requesting payment and credentials, and generative AI–crafted emails that make phishing messages more convincing and scalable. The report includes example malicious domains and statistics on increased impersonation activity, and advises users to verify senders and be cautious before clicking links or submitting payment information.
