Researchers Spot Surge in Brute-Force Attacks from Middle East

Security researchers observed a sharp rise in brute-force attacks against internet-facing SonicWall and Fortinet VPN/firewall devices (56% of confirmed incidents) largely attributed to sources in the Middle East, alongside an uptick in 'ClickFix' social-engineering lures; most attempts were blocked or used invalid usernames, but the activity raises risk of compromise and Barracuda recommends enforcing strong passwords, enabling MFA, restricting management interfaces, monitoring failed logins, improving user education, and restricting script execution.
