AI-Powered Truman Show Operation Industrializes Investment Fraud

Security researchers (Check Point) uncovered an AI-driven investment fraud operation that lures victims via SMS, ads and messaging apps into staged WhatsApp groups staffed by AI-generated ‘experts’ and fake members; victims are funneled into a fake investment platform and app to pay crypto and surrender KYC data. The report highlights the scam’s phased social-engineering playbook, reuse of infrastructure (apps, sites, press releases), active targeting channels, and enterprise risks such as identity-based attacks (SIM swap, helpdesk fraud), credential harvesting and potential insider coercion.
