Post Office Escapes £1m Fine After Postmaster Data Breach

The Post Office accidentally published an unredacted settlement document between 25 April and 19 June 2024 that exposed names, addresses and postmaster status of 502 litigating postmasters; the ICO issued a reprimand (considered but did not apply a fine), and the Post Office instituted remedial controls and identity protection for affected individuals while the ICO recommended stronger publication protocols, classification and training.
