Criminal Subscription Service Behind AI-Powered Cyber-Attacks Taken Out By Microsoft

Microsoft and international partners dismantled RedVDS, a subscription-based cybercrime platform that provided disposable virtual machines and tooling for high-volume phishing and targeted BEC scams. RedVDS-facilitated campaigns, often paired with generative AI and deepfake voice/video, cost victims in the US over $40M and affected nearly 190,000 organizations worldwide; the disruption involved coordinated legal action across the US, UK and international law enforcement and Microsoft urged victims to report incidents to help dismantle criminal networks.
