Urban VPN Proxy Accused of Harvesting AI Chat Conversations

*Executive summary:* A popular Chrome extension, Urban VPN Proxy (and seven related extensions), was found to inject code into major AI chat platforms to capture prompts, responses, timestamps and session identifiers and transmit compressed records to company-controlled analytics servers; the capability was added in v5.5.0 (9 July 2025) and may have affected more than 8 million Chrome and Edge users, with ties to data broker BiScience.
