A coordinated wave of fake online job advertisements targeted countries across the Middle East and North Africa by leveraging localized social-media ads and impersonation to recruit victims, move them to private messaging apps (WhatsApp/Telegram), collect personal and financial data, and extract deposits; Group-IB identified more than 1,500 fraudulent ads in 2025 concentrated in Egypt, Gulf states, Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, Iraq and Jordan and recommends user caution and stronger platform ad verification and monitoring.
