Asahi Confirms 1.5 Million Customers Affected in Major Cyber-Attack

Asahi Group Holdings suffered a ransomware attack in September 2025 attributed to the Qilin group, causing operational suspensions and the possible exposure of personal data for approximately 1.914 million individuals (including ~1.525 million customers). The company spent two months investigating, containing the ransomware, restoring systems and strengthening security; credit card data was not exposed, but Qilin reportedly listed Asahi on its data-leak site and claimed to have stolen ~27 GB of files, with potential revenue and operational impacts still under review.
