NIST, MITRE Partner on $20m AI Centers For Manufacturing and Cybersecurity

NIST announced a $20 million investment to establish two MITRE-operated AI Economic Security Centers—one to boost U.S. manufacturing productivity and another to secure critical infrastructure from cyber threats—aimed at protecting U.S. leadership in AI and mitigating risks from adversarial use of AI. The effort aligns with the White House’s America’s AI Action Plan and includes related initiatives such as the Center for AI Standards and Innovation (formerly the U.S. AI Safety Institute) and a forthcoming $70 million AI for Resilient Manufacturing Institute under Manufacturing USA.
