Comparitech's Q3 2026 analysis reports a record quarterly high of 2,627 claimed ransomware attacks (247 confirmed), with sharp increases across finance, technology, education, healthcare, government and utilities. The report documents large average and peak ransom demands (average $602,400; peak $12.3M), significant data leaks (201 GB and 5.7 TB examples), rising use of triple-extortion and the emergence of AI-driven ransomware (JadePuffer), and identifies Qilin and The Gentlemen as the most active groups.
