Elliptic analysis reports that North Korea-backed threat actors have stolen over $2bn in cryptocurrency in 2025 (a record annual tally so far), including a $1.46bn theft in February, and have used increasingly sophisticated laundering techniques and social-engineering-led intrusions to target exchanges and high-net-worth individuals.
