Akira and RansomHub Surge as Ransomware Claims Reach All-Time High

Corvus Insurance reported a record 632 ransomware victims claimed on data leak sites in November 2024—more than double the monthly average—driven by heightened activity from RansomHub (98 claims) and Akira (73 claims), with groups such as Kill Security, SAFEPAY, and Qilin also contributing; the top five groups accounted for nearly half of November’s claims, though the report notes data leak site counts may not fully represent overall ransomware activity.
