GPU Rowhammer Attack Enables Privilege Escalation and Full System Compromise

GPUBreach is a demonstrated GPU-based Rowhammer attack that corrupts GPU page tables to achieve arbitrary GPU memory read/write from an unprivileged CUDA kernel and can escalate to CPU/root by chaining driver memory-safety flaws; the researchers show risks such as cryptographic key leakage, extraction of large model weights, and degradation of ML accuracy, and warn that standard mitigations (e.g., ECC, IOMMU) may not fully prevent multi-bit flip scenarios.
