Ransomware: Over Half of CISOs Would Consider Paying Ransom to Hackers

A survey by Absolute Security of 750 CISOs in the US and UK found 58% would consider paying a ransom to restore systems after a ransomware attack (63% in the US, 47% in the UK). Respondents cited operational downtime as the biggest impact, reported mixed confidence in recovery capabilities (83% confident vs. many taking days to weeks to recover), and the report warns organisations to prioritise resilience, governance, and rapid recovery capabilities against increasingly AI-enabled attacks.
