Marquis Software Breach Affects Over 780,000 Nationwide

Marquis Software Solutions, a Texas fintech vendor serving hundreds of banks and credit unions, was breached after attackers exploited a SonicWall firewall vulnerability beginning on August 14; unauthorized actors accessed and copied personal and financial records for over 780,000 individuals and impacted at least 74 financial institutions. Marquis contained affected systems, engaged outside cybersecurity specialists, offered credit monitoring to victims, implemented multiple security controls, and investigations noted potential links to Akira ransomware and an unconfirmed ransom payment.
