New Zealand Orders Review of Manage My Health Breach Affecting 100,000+ Patients

Manage My Health, a nationwide New Zealand patient portal, was subject to a cyber-attack detected on December 30, 2025; an attacker using the alias “Kazu” claims to have exfiltrated over 428,000 files and demanded $60,000, threatening publication if unpaid. The company reports the incident is contained but up to 6–7% of its ~1.8M users (roughly 100k–120k people) may be affected; Health New Zealand, police and independent forensic consultants are involved, patient notifications and a Ministry of Health review are underway.
