Russia Targets Signal and WhatsApp Accounts, Dutch Officials Warn

The Netherlands' AIVD and MIVD warn of a Russian-linked campaign targeting Signal and WhatsApp accounts via social engineering—including fake support contacts, stealing verification codes, and abusing linked-device features—to gain access to encrypted conversations of officials, military personnel, journalists, and researchers; several Dutch individuals have been affected and the campaign may also target contacts in other countries.
