On the night of October 11–12, 2026 attackers remotely triggered forced-defrost cycles on Danfoss refrigeration controllers (notably end-of-life AK-SM 800 and AK-SC 355, and some outdated AK-SM 800A units) across hundreds of French supermarkets, heating units to ~50°C, causing widespread food spoilage, equipment fires and tens of millions of euros in losses; CERT-FR advised disconnecting or tightly filtering access to these controllers, passive scans showed thousands of StoreView interfaces exposed in France, and while hacktivist activity provided contextual pressure no group had claimed responsibility as of the report.
