Mobile Security – Observations from the developing world

This article examines the rapid growth of mobile technologies—especially in Africa—and the resulting security implications for mobile banking and broader digital ecosystems. It introduces a mobile threat model centered on security, privacy, and control, arguing that while technical flaws mirror long-known issues, the combination of pervasive connectivity, deep personal integration, massive scale, and weak management creates a novel risk landscape likely to amplify future security challenges.
