Hacking Online Auctions – UnCon && ITWeb talk

A talk titled “Hacking Online Auctions” examines penny auction sites, outlining their mechanics (low starting prices, paid bids, and timer resets) and the hidden costs to participants. The author decoded server–browser interactions, built a client to monitor auctions, and collected 90 days of data (30,000 auctions, 2M bids, 20k players) into a database to extract insights and methods to exploit the auction dynamics.
