Universal Serial aBUSe

This research report introduces “USaBUSe,” a miniaturized USB HID attack platform that pairs an ESP8266 with an ATmega32u4 to deliver remotely triggered keystroke/mouse injection and a host-independent covert binary channel over a Generic HID device, controlled via VNC and telnet. It details the hardware/firmware architecture, a staged execution chain that uses a short PowerShell payload to open the HID pipe, stealth enhancements (e.g., mouse jiggler, hidden windows), and engineering lessons (flow control, watchdogs, keyboard layouts), and provides open-source code and hardware resources for red teams and researchers.
