This report reviews container networking solutions—Flannel, Project Calico, Weave Net, Canal, and Big Switch Networks' Big Cloud Fabric—describing how they create overlay networks and integrate with the CNI to enable cross-host container communication, their encapsulation/backends (e.g., VXLAN, host-gw, BGP), policy and access-control capabilities, and deployment trade-offs for Kubernetes and other orchestrators.
