Why governance is key to safe AI adoption

A Cloud Security Alliance report, based on a survey of 300 IT and security professionals, finds that governance maturity is the key predictor of safe and effective AI adoption, with security teams rapidly adopting AI for threat detection, red teaming, and access control. The report urges organizations to implement unified, automated governance frameworks spanning legal, data, development, and cybersecurity functions, and to prioritize AI-native risks—such as model drift, prompt injection, model/data poisoning, and model theft—over solely traditional data exposure and compliance concerns.
