Enhanced Google Play Protect real-time scanning for app installs

Google announced upgraded Google Play Protect capabilities that perform real-time, code-level scanning of previously unscanned apps at install time—even for sideloaded sources—to better detect polymorphic and emerging malware. Signals are sent to backend infrastructure for evaluation, with results warning users of potentially harmful apps. The enhancement is rolling out starting in India and complements Android’s multi-layer protections, including security updates, permission controls, Safe Browsing, and anti-phishing features.
