Android expands pilot for in-call scam protection for financial apps

Google announces the expansion of Android’s in-call scam protection, which warns users with a 30-second pause when they open participating financial or P2P payment apps while screen sharing and on a call with an unknown number. Following a successful UK pilot (now broadened to most major UK banks) and pilots in Brazil and India, the feature is being piloted in the United States with partners like Cash App and JPMorgan Chase to combat social engineering scams that coerce users into sharing sensitive information or initiating fraudulent transfers.
