Android’s pKVM Becomes First Globally Certified Software to Achieve Prestigious SESIP Level 5 Security Certification

Google announced that protected KVM (pKVM), the hypervisor for the Android Virtualization Framework, has achieved SESIP Level 5 certification (including AVA_VAN.5) via Dekra under the TrustCB SESIP scheme, establishing a high-assurance, open-source isolation foundation for Android devices. This milestone is intended to enable secure on-device AI and other high-criticality workloads, address inconsistent TEE assurances across the ecosystem, and set a new baseline that Android OEMs will be required to meet as part of Android’s multi-layered security strategy.
