New AI-Powered Scam Detection Features to Help Protect You on Android

Google announced AI-driven Scam Detection for Messages (SMS/MMS/RCS) and Phone by Google that analyzes conversations on-device to flag likely scams in real time, targeting mid-conversation social engineering tactics. Messaging warnings are on by default for non-contacts with on-device processing and optional reporting, while call detection is opt-in, processed ephemerally on-device with participant beeps, and is expanding to English-speaking Pixel 9+ users in the U.S.; Messages launches first in English in the U.S., U.K., and Canada.
