Threat campaigns during the U.S. Election 2016

Zscaler ThreatLabZ details several 2016 U.S. election-themed malicious campaigns: a spam-delivered ransomware (drops smrss32.exe, Ref#_2c80aab5f2e7.key and a .bmp ransom image, uses Rijndael/AES and appends .encrypted), a spoofed 'DONALD TRUMP' renamer sample that does not perform actual encryption, adware distributed via fake torrent executables that redirect to PUP download pages, and hoax articles used to trick users; the report includes technical indicators, code behavior, and guidance to exercise caution with email attachments and untrusted links.
