Technical Analysis of SmokeLoader Version 2025

This report provides a technical analysis of SmokeLoader 2025 alpha and 2025, detailing stager and main-module changes: a new mutex generation algorithm and check to prevent repeated injection into explorer.exe, relocation of anti-analysis thread creation, updated shellcode and decryption routines, modified scheduled task naming for persistence, obfuscated constants, and changes to the C2 beacon and response formats (including CRC32 and XOR-obfuscated lengths). The analysis includes reproduction code for the mutex algorithm and highlights IOC-relevant artifacts (mutex format, scheduled task name, file-mapping naming, and network packet structure).
