Mobile, IoT, and OT Risks Converge in the Public Sector

ThreatLabz reports sharp, cross-industry increases in mobile, IoT, and OT threats from June 2024–May 2025: Android malware rose 67% globally (including malicious apps on Google Play), IoT botnets such as Mirai/Gafgyt/Mozi account for the majority of malicious IoT payloads, and sectors saw major surges (government IoT +370% and mobile +147%; healthcare mobile +224%; education IoT +861%); the report also highlights nation-state actors (Volt Typhoon, Salt Typhoon) and the risk posed by legacy OT and vulnerable supply chains.
