This article argues that using Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt (FUD) in security awareness training is ineffective and harmful—leading to resentment, anxiety, and defiance—and instead promotes positive, engaging approaches (FUN) like gamified phishing simulations, incentives, interactive learning, and recognition to build trust, improve long-term cyber hygiene, and foster a stronger organizational security culture.
