Researchers and the Brave browser found that AliExpress used silent Web Audio processing—generating an inaudible waveform and measuring device-specific processing differences—alongside canvas, WebGL, display and WebRTC signals to build browser/device fingerprints. The technique is technically legitimate at the API level, raises privacy concerns because it can recognize visitors without cookies, and can be mitigated by anti-tracking tools, updated browsers, or using separate browsing profiles.
