‘RockYou2024’: Nearly 10 billion passwords leaked online

A file called rockyou.txt containing roughly 9.95 billion unique plaintext passwords was posted to a public hacking forum; the list aggregates passwords from multiple historical and recent breaches. Attackers can use it for offline cracking or to perform credential-stuffing where passwords have been reused, while users employing unique strong passwords and multi-factor authentication face much lower risk.
