LG TV flaws could let attackers listen in, even in standby mode

Researchers investigating LG smart TVs found extensive privacy and security concerns — including device and network discovery, ACR tracking of viewing habits, collection of Wi‑Fi and device identifiers, and reported remote-code-execution vulnerabilities that could allow audio capture or a foothold into home networks. LG disputes some claims about routine ambient recording but acknowledges network scanning and says ACR requires consent; vulnerability details remain in responsible disclosure. Users are advised to install firmware updates, disable unnecessary features (ACR, voice recognition), use guest/IoT networks, and disable UPnP to limit exposure.
