Stolen iPhones could soon be worth a lot less to thieves

The Met Police and Apple have agreed to harden iPhone anti-theft protections (iOS Stolen Device Protection) and exchange reported-stolen device identifiers so Apple can report reactivation or reconnection attempts; early results show reduced phone thefts in London, but the partnership raises privacy, false-report, and reuse/repair concerns.
