100 million+ US citizens have records leaked by background check service

MC2 Data, a background-check provider operating sites such as PrivateRecords and PeopleSearchUSA, left a 2.2 TB, passwordless database publicly accessible, exposing approximately 106 million records and sensitive PII for an estimated 100 million US individuals — including names, contact details, addresses, DOBs, encrypted passwords, partial payment data, legal and property records, and subscriber information — creating a large-scale privacy breach with high risk of fraud, identity theft and misuse.
