Apple and Google announced the Detecting Unwanted Location Trackers specification to deliver cross-platform alerts on iOS and Android when a Bluetooth tracker (such as an AirTag) is detected moving with a user, offering controls to view the tracker’s identifier, play a sound to locate it, and access disable instructions; multiple tag makers plan compatibility, and the companies will continue standardization efforts with the IETF.
