Dell notifies customers about data breach

A threat actor using the alias “Menelik” posted a 49 million-record Dell customer dataset (systems sold 2017–2024) on the Breach Forums, claiming it contains names, physical addresses (including postal code and country), service tags, shipping dates, warranty plans, serial numbers, Dell customer and order numbers; Dell says no financial information, email addresses, or phone numbers appear in the data. The post and subsequent customer notices raise risks of targeted impersonation and scams; customers are advised to follow vendor guidance, change passwords, enable 2FA, monitor identity, and watch for fraudulent contacts.
