Amazon disables privacy option, will send your Echo voice recordings to the cloud

Amazon is removing the 'Do Not Send Voice Recordings' option for select Echo devices (Echo Dot 4th Gen, Echo Show 10, Echo Show 15) in the U.S. starting March 28, 2025, shifting Alexa request processing to the cloud to enable generative AI features. While Amazon says recordings can be deleted if 'Don't Save Recordings' is enabled, the change raises privacy concerns about cloud-stored voice data and prompts advice to limit unnecessary smart devices at home.
