“Substantial proportion” of Americans may have had health and personal data stolen in Change Healthcare breach

UnitedHealth Group disclosed that its subsidiary Change Healthcare suffered a major February ransomware attack that caused widespread billing and pharmacy service outages and may have exposed PHI/PII for a substantial proportion of Americans; the company is restoring services, monitoring the web and dark web for data disclosures, offering affected individuals support and identity protection, and expects further investigation and congressional testimony.
