Android users bombarded with unskippable ads

Malwarebytes researchers uncovered "Kaleidoscope," an Android ad-fraud campaign that uses over 130 apps (including benign‑appearing Play Store apps and malicious lookalikes distributed via third‑party stores) to deliver unskippable, out‑of‑context ads and generate fraudulent ad impressions (≈2.5M installs/month). The operation resembles the CaramelAds network, shares app IDs between legitimate and malicious builds to hide fraudulent traffic from advertisers, and is detected by Malwarebytes as Adware.AdLoader.EXTNXN.
