Attack of the Christmas Clones

The report describes a rapid, large-scale brand impersonation campaign against a small online merchant: attackers copied the merchant’s social media and website content to create hundreds of fake listings and about 121 spoof websites within 17 days, advertised across Facebook, TikTok, Instagram and Amazon. The merchant attempted takedowns, cease-and-desist letters and sought assistance from police and consumer protection but received little support; customers helped by reporting fake ads and sites.
