Cyble Research & Intelligence Labs investigated a fraud campaign in which impostors posing as Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs) targeted rural applicants for the CSC/Bank Mitra program by using fake portals (notably ecscgov.co.in and related domains), WhatsApp contacts, forged documents and prospectuses to collect KYC/PII and extort payments (totaling over INR 150,000 from one victim). The report includes open-source linkage (WHOIS, Facebook pages), infrastructure IOCs (domains, IP addresses, name servers, emails), phone numbers and bank/UPI account details used to receive funds, screenshots of fraudulent pages and correspondence, and recommends continuous monitoring and verification of VLEs and fraudulent domains to mitigate such scams.
